What is this?
A gas fee calculator estimates the cost of Ethereum transactions in ETH and USD. Gas is paid to validators for processing transactions, with prices fluctuating based on network demand. Different transaction types (transfers, swaps, NFTs) require different amounts of gas.How to use
Select your transaction type (ETH transfer, token swap, NFT mint, etc.), enter current gas price in Gwei (check Etherscan), and input current ETH price. The calculator shows total cost and provides speed options (slow, standard, fast, instant) with estimated confirmation times.Tips
- Gas price in Gwei: 1 Gwei = 0.000000001 ETH (billionth)
- ETH transfer: 21,000 gas (simplest transaction)
- ERC-20 token transfer: 45,000-65,000 gas
- Uniswap swap: 100,000-180,000 gas (depends on hops)
- NFT mint: 50,000-300,000 gas (depends on contract)
- Gas prices < 20 Gwei: Great time to transact
- Gas prices > 100 Gwei: Wait unless urgent
- Check Etherscan Gas Tracker for real-time prices
- Layer 2 (Arbitrum, Optimism): 90-99% cheaper gas
- Weekend/late night UTC: Lowest gas prices
- Failed transactions still cost gas (ensure enough ETH)
- Set gas limit 20% above estimate for safety
- First-time token approvals cost more (44,000 gas)
- Batch transactions when possible (split gas cost)
- EIP-1559 (2021): Base fee + priority fee model
