Transgender surgery versus female genital mutilation for minors

Forty-one states have laws prohibiting female genital mutilation, but only 27 states ban gender-affirming care for minors, with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons recently recommending against permanent gender surgeries on minors and a detransitioning patient winning a $2 million jury award against her health care providers.
