What is this?
The Baby Sleep Schedule Calculator generates age-appropriate daily sleep schedules for babies and toddlers from newborn to age 3, based on clinically recommended total sleep hours, nap counts, and wake windows for each developmental stage. How to use
Enter your baby's age in months and your preferred morning wake time and evening bedtime. The calculator creates a full daily nap schedule with start/end times, wake window guidance, and personalized recommendations based on your baby's developmental stage.Tips
- Wake windows (time between sleep periods) are more important than fixed clock times — watch for sleepy cues like yawning, eye-rubbing, and fussiness.
- A consistent 20–30 minute bedtime routine (bath, story, feed) dramatically reduces bedtime resistance at any age.
- Blackout curtains, white noise (50–65 dB), and a cool room (68–72°F) are the three most impactful sleep environment improvements.
- The 4-month sleep regression is a normal developmental shift — sleep cycles mature and become lighter, not a problem to fix.
- Overtiredness makes it harder (not easier) for babies to fall asleep; respect wake window limits to avoid overtired cycles.
- Most babies can sleep 6–8 hours at night by 4–6 months if they have learned to self-settle without feeding or rocking.
- Nap transitions (3→2, 2→1) often take 2–6 weeks and may temporarily disrupt nighttime sleep before improving.
